I am of the opinion that most successful brands in the world have a trade secret when it comes to engaging with their favorite customers. Some leverage technology, crazy copy, weird content and the likes.
Now coming to the brand of focus, Apple has a tricky strategy by the way of which it turns its advancements in tech into fun features. Let us look at a few in detail.
Face ID
The recently launched Face ID feature is technically not really new in the gadget world. But the Face ID is not just meant for unlocking the iPhone. Apple has gone the extra mile in letting the customer make an EMOJI that resembles their face with Face ID. It maps the facial movements into an EMOJI and the same can be recorded and sent to other iPhone users.
3D Touch
Remember live photos from the iOS update? Well, many users do not know that it was made possible by the 3D Touch technology that Apple has been perfecting over the years. There is nothing cooler than bringing regular photos to life. So iPhone users, just go back to your gallery and deep press on the photos to check out the hidden videos that were being captured behind the scenes.
Apple Pay powered by Touch ID
Many of us have the habit of forgetting our wallets while going out. So what if you want to buy something desperately and you are not carrying any form of cash. Enter Apple Pay. By linking your account details with Apple Pay, you can make your payments in a lightening quick manner. The payment authorization is done via Touch ID which stores your bio-metrics details.
Apple has been training its customers to use new tech in relatively easy and efficient manner for a long time. Siri is one such example. They launched it across platforms once it tasted success in the iPhone.
It is interesting to ponder over a reality where people are becoming lesser and lesser dependent on the mobile phones. Apple has launched the HomePod understanding this trend. With Siri enabled, the HomePod can render most information that an iPhone user would need while at home.
All these trends are paving the way for future developments. A world in which people are no longer using mobile phones may be right around the corner. But then what could replace the mobile phone? Hmm, well, how about the iWatch replacing the iPhone. Sounds interesting right. Apple has gone one step forward in making this into a reality by incorporating a GSM SIM slot in the recently launched Series 3 iWatch.
But I firmly believe that its not technology that is stopping Apple from replacing the iPhone completely with the iWatch. Rather, it is the consumers way of interacting with the device that has to be changed slowly in the years to come. For instance, getting people to use voice as the primary mode of interaction is the biggest hurdle.
